Looking back through the camera lens

Emirates Team New Zealand photographer Chris Cameron looks back on the  team’s recent America’s Cup history….

This picture was taken at Trapani, Sicily, during Act 9 of the 2007 America’s Cup, October 2005.

The sailing photo without a sail boat.

This is one of my favourites not only from a graphic / compositional stand point, “rule of thirds”, “leading lines” etc.

But also because it nicely illustrates that sport is about the people more than the technology… by removing the boat the man against the elements shines through.

  2. superb photo, for all those reasons you mention plus the sense of what a voyage, of crests and troughs, a Cup campaign is.
