On the water with the AC72: latest pictures
Emirates Team New Zealand photographer Chris Cameron has spent a lot of time on the water in recent weeks photographing the AC72 and says it’s amazing how it has become routine even if an edge is always apparent. He reports:
“I wouldn’t like to suggest that a day of testing the AC72 isn’t exciting to watch, but it is amazing how quickly you do come to accept the extraordinary.
“When you are speeding along at 30 knots watching a marvel of design and technology flying above the water’s surface supported on a couple of square metres of carbon fibre and the most interest on the chase boat centres around whether or not there is a packet of lollies in the lunch box you realise the human brain is a pretty fickle organ.”
Three chase boats always accompany the Ac72. On occasions close to 40 people are on the water. The 11 members of the sailing crew plus an assortment of designers, engineers, systems specialists, safety people, boat builders – and the team photographer.

awesome pictures, marvelous yacht. Bring the old mug back home, guys! you deserve it.
Flags.
Down the Viaduct in the weekend and see the large Italian flag flying from the Prada base …………look over to the Emirates Team N.Z base and see nothing.
Let’s fly a higher, bigger flag than the Italians and at least say we’re prouder, higher and bigger than you guys.
Also, going to be in San Fran for the last 4 days of the cup, is there any supporters type deals being established that I cab tap into ?

This is a sailing contest, not reality TV.
I hope ETNZ will continue to focus on deeds, not boastful words and meaningless symbols.
Leave the spinmeister tactics to other sports, please.
