ETNZ second overall for ACWS first season
Emirates Team New Zealand has ended the inaugural season of the America’s Cup World Series in second place overall.
Battling as Series of mishaps at the final Newport regatta and an indifferent performance in the triple points fleet race the team held its place on the leaderboard.
But it was a disappointing end to the Newport regatta. After injuries to two members of the front-line AC45 sailing crew, a collision with a mark boat and a damaging capsize, the team yesterday looked like it was coming right.
With a third and a first in the two fleet races held, the team was feeling more confident. But the performance today, not helped by another broken dagger board lifting pole, was indifferent.
Skipper Dean Barker said: “We had our opportunities but did not capitalise on them. We have no excuses. We did not do well enough on the day.”

I think you over streched your rescources taking on the Volvo as well as the Big one. There is only one boat race that matters, the Americas Cup! You should concentrate all rescources on that. Best of look with the 72′s, will look forward to seeing you out in the Gulf. Regards Rog
Seemed like it was all unravelling there for awhile…..was disappointed with the lack of video coverage (here in NZ) of the Portsmouth racing.Hopefully SanFran will have better coverage. Bad luck guys….look ahead…not behind. All the best….bring that cup home again !
