Video: The Shore Files

Over the course of the Volvo Ocean Race we’ve been taking the occasional in-depth look at the work of CAMPER’s hard working shore crew. This time it’s the turn of physiotherapist Paul ‘Willow’ Wilson.

Willow has been with Emirates Team New Zealand since the 2007 America’s Cup and before that was the team physio for the All Blacks and the Auckland Blues. He is responsible for ensuring that CAMPER’s battered and bruised crew can recover after a hard few weeks at sea and are back in good shape for the next leg. As we’ve seen in the most recent leg the physical toll of racing a Volvo Open 70 can be extreme and Willow also plays a key medical and nutritional role with the team and making sure that the sailing team are in top physical shape and ready to deliver their best.
